Here are the topics that have been cooking in my tree. Commits
prefixed with '+' are in 'next' (being in 'next' is a sign that a
topic is stable enough to be used and are candidate to be in a
future release). Commits prefixed with '-' are only in 'seen',
which means nothing more than that I have found them of interest for
some reason (like "it may have hard-to-resolve conflicts with
another topic already in flight" or "this may turn out to be
useful"). Do not read too much into a topic being in (or not in)
'seen'. The ones marked with '.' do not appear in any of the
integration branches, but I am still holding onto them.

Many topics have no summary written yet for them in this issue.

Copies of the source code to Git live in many repositories, and the
following is a list of the ones I push into or their mirrors. Some
repositories have only a subset of branches.

With maint, master, next, seen, todo:

	git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/git/git.git/
	git://repo.or.cz/alt-git.git/
	https://kernel.googlesource.com/pub/scm/git/git/
	https://github.com/git/git/
	https://gitlab.com/git-vcs/git/

With all the integration branches and topics broken out:

	https://github.com/gitster/git/

Even though the preformatted documentation in HTML and man format
are not sources, they are published in these repositories for
convenience (replace "htmldocs" with "manpages" for the manual
pages):

	git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/git/git-htmldocs.git/
	https://github.com/gitster/git-htmldocs.git/

Release tarballs are available at:

"git log --graph --graph" used to leak a graph structure, and there
was no way to countermand "--graph" that appear earlier on the
command line. A "--no-graph" option has been added and resource
 leakage has been plugged.

"receive-pack" checks if it will do any ref updates (various
conditions could reject a push) before received objects are taken
out of the temporary directory used for quarantine purposes, so
that a push that is known-to-fail will not leave crufts that a
future "gc" needs to clean up.

* ps/avoid-unnecessary-hook-invocation-with-packed-refs (2022-01-17) 6 commits
(merged to 'next' on 2022-02-10 at 4866a64508)

+ refs: demonstrate excessive execution of the reference-transaction hook

Because a deletion of ref would need to remove it from both the
loose ref store and the packed ref store, a delete-ref operation
that logically removes one ref may end up invoking ref-transaction
hook twice, which has been corrected.

When the http-backend program, which is the server-side component

deliberately did not say anything to the requesting client. We now
send a message back to the browser to tell the user that they do
not want to visit the URL via their browser, instead of a totally
 blank page.

There's an outstanding v3 of this that hasn't been picked up & addresses
earlier feedback of yours[1].

I think with that v3 this should be ready to advance.

Jiang Xin had feedback in [2] about avoiding some casts by having the
added functions take a "void *" insted of a "char *", which as I replied
to I think we'd like to not do, and is consistent with how we tend to
handle those casting issues in existing code.

I've dug a little deeper, and I think my plan to reroll this as two
series [1] makes sense:

1. Small, obvious conversions from sh->C.
2. Finalizing the conversion.

(1) has only trivial conflicts, and is relatively easy to review, so I
expect that to go through quickly.

This should also buy some time to finalize those other topics and
hopefully make coordination simpler.

I believe all feedback has been addressed on this one The last one was
Ævar's suggestion to simplify a test helper, which I've included. I
didn't think it was worth sending another version of the series for that,
but let me know if that would be the right thing to do.
