It looks like this has already been fixed upstream:
https://github.com/NixOS/nix/issues/5674
https://github.com/NixOS/nix/pull/5683

temporary files have been marked as CLOEXEC so this particular bug
shouldn't be a problem anymore.

The tests run during package builds don't use the same mechanism, so can
only hope this was also fixed by the same swoop.
