Good evening!

I'm Alexandre, from São Paulo - Brazil and i'm part of MindHacker(a
little hackerspace in Capivari/SP). I'm also part of some groups and
projects that aims to bring the hacker culture to the schools and
connect schools with the hacker communities.
As part of these efforts, i started last year a research about hacker
culture, education and empowerment. At moment, something very important
to us is better understand the characteristics of hacker culture around
the world and it relation with people and community
empowerment/emancipation.
To better understand this, i created a brief questionnaire and i would
like to ask your help answering it, if possible!

Thanks a lot for the help! For those who research this subject or have
some interest on it, ping us and let's be in touch.

The questionnaries links are:

English: http://educahacker.cc/survey/index.php/881144?lang=en
Portuguse: http://educahacker.cc/survey/index.php/881144?lang=pt-BR
Spanish: http://educahacker.cc/survey/index.php/881144?lang=es

Thanks again!

Cheers,

Alex

I am a student at the university of Jaén (Spain), and I have a friend
who is studying software engineering at the University of Minnesota
(USA). If you would like, I could share the survey among my classmates
as well as through the University of Minnesota.

Just a note, but you may want to add a "Survey Completed" message at the
end of the survey. Otherwise the user may think their browser is having
issues loading the page.

Hey Nicolas! Thank you so much for your help!

I'm very grateful for you to share with your class and friends! I have
noticed many specifics aspects of the hacker culture according to the
place, the movement, etc ... and to understand them for us is very nice!
Thanks again for this! About the final message, I've already corrected!
Thank you for the warning!

Cheers!

Alex

[[[ foreign or domestic, requires you to follow Snowden's example. ]]]

I looked at the educahacker survey and saw that it tries to load
nonfree Javascript code into the user's browser. It is not right to
ask people to run nonfree software.

The survey says that if the user doesn't run this nonfree Javascript code,
some questions may not work. And it suggests the user "verify your browser
parameters" -- meaning, I suppose, to enable running the nonfree software
in the survey.

I am sure you didn't mean to act directly against the aims of Libre
Planet, so I am sad to have to point out that that's what the survey
does. "The medium is the message", or at least part of the message.
The survey platform you are using has a message, "Surrender to nonfree
software."

Would you please turn off the survey for now, redo it
to work without nonfree software, and then advertise it again?

It is not hard to set up a form in pure HTML. It may be not quite so
pretty in appearance; if so, that's exactly what teaches the lesson
that freedom is more important than appearance, so we shouldn't
sacrifice the former for the latter.
