This looks like a good solution for MinGW, but cygwin will not support that

$ pwd -W
bash: pwd: -W: invalid option
pwd: usage: pwd [-LP]

Cygwin uses cygpath

$ cygpath -m /c/Windows/System32
C:/Windows/System32
