I ended up hacking gitfakemmap like in the attached patches (sorry for mime= ). It's very ugly and unsafe hack, and it's actually exactly the reason why it= was never submitted. Still, it helps me (it speedups revlist, for instance), and maybe it'll help you. It is a really good example what stupid windows restrictions can do to a program.
