I just want to point out that this patch is not exclusively about signed tags. The patch is about retaining annotated tags rather than demoting them to light-weight tag references as is done currently for _all_ annotated tags, signed and unsigned. When rewriting signed tags, the signature is stripped so that we don't write a tag with a bogus signature. -brandon
