Well, I'm not a C coder either ;-) -- plenty of the large contributors do their work in Perl Python and shell. Granted, I am not very active lately, but that's because I'm busy on non-git-related (but git-using!) projects. And the choice of language has nothing to do with helping people around. If they care about getting recommendations from list regulars, anyway.
